Faucet & Toilet Repair in Memphis, TN

Small plumbing problems add up quickly in Memphis homes. A toilet that runs all night wastes a surprising amount of water on your MLGW bill, a faucet that drips steadily stains the sink and keeps you awake, and a supply line that's been under the sink for twenty years is a flood waiting to happen. Many houses here still have original or decades-old fixtures: Midtown bathrooms with older two-handle faucets, East Memphis ranches with 1960s toilets, and builder-grade fixtures from the 1990s in Cordova and Bartlett that are starting to wear out. Memphis draws its water from deep wells in the Memphis Sand aquifer and it's naturally soft, so mineral buildup is less of a problem than in many cities, but rubber parts and cartridges still wear out over time.

We repair what can be repaired and replace what can't, and we tell you which is which. For faucets, that might mean a new cartridge or washer, a fresh set of supply lines, or a whole new faucet. For toilets, it might be a new flapper, fill valve or flush valve, a fresh wax ring and bolts to stop a rocking base, or a full toilet replacement. We replace worn shutoff valves and garbage disposals too, and our licensed plumbers handle the connections and any pipe that needs replacing behind the fixture. We leave the area clean and dry.

What this covers

  • Dripping faucet cartridge and washer repair
  • Kitchen and bathroom faucet replacement
  • Running toilet flapper and fill valve repair
  • Toilet wax ring and bolt replacement
  • Full toilet replacement
  • Garbage disposal installation and replacement
  • Braided supply line replacement
  • Shutoff valve replacement
  • Caulking around tubs, sinks and toilets
A note from around here: Older Midtown bathrooms often have two-handle faucets and toilets on wood subfloors over a crawlspace, while 1990s homes in Cordova, Germantown and Bartlett are hitting the age when original fill valves, cartridges and supply lines give out.

How a faucet & toilet repair visit usually goes

Find the Leak

We look at the faucet or toilet, check the shutoffs and supply lines, and pinpoint exactly where the water is going.

Shut Off and Protect

We turn off the water, lay down towels and protect the floor and cabinet before taking anything apart.

Repair or Replace

We replace worn parts or install a new faucet or toilet, along with fresh supply lines and seals.

Test and Check

We turn the water on, test for leaks, run several flushes or cycles, and make sure the area is dry and clean.

Winter freezes are less frequent in Memphis than up north, but when a hard freeze comes through, pipes in crawlspaces and on exterior walls can split. Recent cold snaps have reminded a lot of people where their shutoff valves are — or that they don't have working ones. After a freeze we see cracked outdoor faucets, split supply lines and leaks under sinks on outside walls. We replace the cracked hose bibs and split supply lines, and our licensed plumbers repair the burst sections inside walls and crawlspaces so the water can go back on. In the fall, we're glad to check your shutoffs and add frost-free outdoor faucet covers so you're ready before the first cold night.

What shapes the price in Memphis

The cost of faucet and toilet work depends on whether we're replacing a small part or the whole fixture, and on what we find underneath. Flappers, fill valves and supply lines are quick. Faucet cartridges vary by brand. Full faucet or toilet replacements take longer, especially with older shutoff valves that won't close or corroded mounting nuts. A soft subfloor under a toilet adds work. Combining several fixes, such as all the running toilets and dripping faucets in the house, is the most efficient way to have them done.

Neighbors often ask

My toilet runs off and on by itself. What's wrong?

That's usually a worn flapper or a fill valve that's set too high, letting water leak slowly into the bowl until the tank refills. It's one of the most common calls we get. We replace the flapper and adjust or replace the fill valve, and that usually stops it right away.

Should I repair my dripping faucet or replace it?

If it's a decent-quality faucet and parts are available, a new cartridge or washer usually fixes the drip. If it's a builder-grade faucet from twenty years ago, the cartridge can cost nearly as much as a new faucet and may be hard to find. We'll look at what you have and give you an honest recommendation.

My toilet rocks when I sit on it. Is that serious?

It can be. A rocking toilet can break the wax seal, letting water seep under the floor every time you flush. In homes with crawlspaces, that can rot the subfloor over time. We pull the toilet, check the flange and floor, replace the wax ring and bolts, and reset it solidly. If the subfloor is soft, we'll show you and talk through the repair.

Can you replace an old shutoff valve under my sink?

Yes. Old multi-turn valves often seize or drip once you finally use them, and we replace them with quarter-turn valves. If the pipe stub coming out of the wall is corroded, our licensed plumbers cut back to sound pipe and fit the new valve there, and we can check that your main shutoff closes fully while we're at it.

Do you install new toilets?

Yes. We remove the old toilet, check the flange, set the new one with a fresh wax ring and bolts, connect a new supply line, and haul away the old one. If the flange is broken or the floor is damaged, we'll show you before going further.
